Climbers are invited to the inaugural NZ Rock Festival, at Whanganui Bay, on Auckland Anniversary Weekend 2011 (the 29th and 30th January). This festival will bring together climbers and the Whanganui Bay Trustees to enhance future relationships between these key groups.
As well as stacks of climbing at the premier crag in the North Island, the festival will include: a bolting seminar run by the New Zealand Alpine Club; working bees to improve crag access and route identification; a workshop on how to make a hangi (which will also provide the Saturday evening meal) and entertainment, including a bonfire, on the beach.
