Woman stable after 20m climbing fall
Saw this in the herald today,
http://msn.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/story.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10538429
" A woman who suffered serious injuries when she fell more than 20 metres in a rock climbing accident yesterday is now in a stable condition.
The Taupo-based Lion Foundation rescue helicopter was called to the scene near Wharepapa South, 48km southeast of Te Awamutu.
Helicopter spokesman Dan Harcourt said the 26-year-old woman had been climbing with friends when she fell.
A Waikato Hospital spokeswoman said the woman suffered pelvic injuries, but was in a stable condition and would probably be discharged today"
Does anyone know anymore information?
I hope she gets well soon.....

It was at Froggatt. My friend Simon was climbing there at the time. The fall was somewhere on the slug wall. That's all I got.
bummer. slug wall wouldn't be anywhere near 20m high though
Thats probably why she is not broken even more...or worse...
Any falls from there would suck...you'd bounce off the ledge and onto "slug" at the bottom. Nasty.
Apparently she is a German Girl? Named Victoria? (from another source)
Yeah I was there, I heard her hit the ground.
Her name is Victory and she's studying here from Germany.
She's a member at a gym somewhere!?! It was her first time outdoors. More of a belaying accident than a climbing accident. My mate knows the people who took her out and reckons they were not very experienced. Goes to show you should know what you are doing before you get on the rock!!!
She had just finished toproping and was taking down the setup. she reckons she definitely put the rope thru the top bolts but there was nothing there after so i reckon she put the rope thru her personal anchors instead!
It was on slug wall the 15 "Ninja". it's lucky it's just to the side of the rock at the bottom so that would have saved her from hitting her head. she is lucky there is that ledge halfway would have prevented her hiting the ground so hard.
So apparently she was walking with aid the next day and will heal in 6 weeks.
Also heard she hasn't let it put her off and is keen to still climb! :)- tough girl!!!
she 's lucky man!!! best wishes to her!
^^^^^AAHH!^^^^
I think my brain is now leaking out my eye sockets, where my eyeballs just imploded trying to decode you post
Now that I think I have grasped the gist of it, thanks for the info. I definitely wish Victory a speedy recovery as well.
EDIT: hard to read text above no longer valid 8)
Sorry, had to flip out a bit for the sake of all of us old crusties here who haven't yet learned the newfangled interweb-speak-and-speel
No offense, and welcome to MojoZone! :D

I saw the same article on stuff just now. Best wishes to the climber if anyone knows her.
