Thumb issue !
It's been almost 4 months since I crash-landed at work and trashed my left thumb and the thing still hasn't come right...
.....Been to the Doc who sent me to a specialist who confirmed that there were no tears to the ligaments and/or other stuff...he told me it could take upto 3 months to sort but now I'm begining to get suspicious as there has been little real improvement for the last 1-2 months.....
Has anyone else has what has been diagnosed a a sprain(?) take this long to heal....
And before anyone asks...yes I'm going back to see the Doc next week !
Cheers
Mike
And you are soooo old
sounds like skier's thumb,
never been a big deal climbing
sounds buggered does it affect your climbing much if so you should possibly not climb for a while or just climb without a thumb
I carry my age well!
Or am I trying to conceal my identity.....
how do you manage to hurt your thumb climbing?
bouldering in llanberis in march will be a bit cold wont it. I was there is april last year and it was damn cold. still bummer about the thumb though
did it hurt? :(
same injury here, surgery next week or the week after then up to 12 weeks of nothing i would twiddle my thumbs in the boring time but i cant even do that. its a pain in the ass alright
not sure 100% i dont speak medical lingo and all the words were going over my head when he was saying them. I think his name is Simon Chinchiwata or some thing like that.
isnt it funny how the worst injuries are always when its something stupid you are doing
Ok... slightly off topic, but where is Llamberis? I've heard it mentioned before and I beleive the word "bouldering" was even mentioned (it makes me giddy!) Where is it and what sort of rock is it and what is the climbing like?
North Wales and the bouldering is not as good as the climbing. It is where Joe Brown cut his teeth etc etc
the rock is rhyolite, but way older than the taupo stuff. Trad climbing mecca really.

the 1st 3 photos are of llanberis. flying butress route, also photo 9 and 25.
If you've heard the story of the 1st ascent of cenotaph corner this is where it happened.
ah yes llanberis, what a fantastic looking crag eh. certainly a mecca. :?

Yup. The wave and I had a wee tussle over my surfboard, and I could feel my thumb touch the back of my arm. Hmmm....
It was quite swollen and stiff for a couple of months and very tender for much longer. Well, it's still a bit tender if it gets knocked or bent backwards.
The injury took place a year and a half ago. I just have to be careful... it comes with old age.....
