The New Zealand Rock Climbers Coalition
I would like to specifically thank growingwild for his thoughtful contributions advancing the debate regarding the future of New Zealand Rock Climbing. There is both debate and consensus among our limited group that includes the following ideas:
-a single database of updatable route information is available for posterity, free or low fee.
-fairly priced high quality printed guidebooks are available for the masses.
-funding is needed for access and the conservation of our collective rock climbing areas.
-funding is needed to advance outdoor rock climbing and new route development in new zealand.
-guidebook proceeds should directly fund local initiatives managed by local communities.
-national guidebooks should be select or best of type editions that encourage travellers to visit new climbing areas but does not negate the sale of locally produced materials.
-local climbing communities are encouraged to form incorporated societies to confirm their non profit status.
I am impressed with aspects of the Red River Gorge Climber's Coalition because they certainly seem to be progressing outdoor rock climbing in terms of access, conservation, route development and information technology. Their model of success could be adapted to suit our situation in New Zealand.
Therefore, I propose the concept of a non profit New Zealand Rock Climber's Coalition.
And to be just a bit cheeky,
I nominate the following individuals to be the first executive committee
Richard Thomson - President
Greg Johnston - Secreatary
John Palmer - Internal Affairs
Simon Middlemass - Conscientious Objector
Ivan Vostinar - Treasurer and Publications Expert
Jezer and Ed Nepia- Public Relations Cooridinators
Gomez - New Route Consolidator
Nick Cradock - Bolting Fund Coordinator
And the rest of you lot can be Advocates and seek alternative funding models like: t-shirts, climbing shoe appeals and donation boxes.

Agree, appointments are in good humour too.
Have you and Queenstown ever asked to start new sections of the NZAC. It could offer an affilation that supports alternative fundraising efforts due to the alignment. And quietly... if North Otago is a valid section... practically any town could be.

can just throw up in our hands
And get down on your knees, baby!
I humbly accept, what an honour!
Excellent!
actually i'd rather the role of 'social' activities co-co-convenor, praps Chris Burthensahaw, Dave Vass, John McCallum and Rich Turner could assist in this onerous yet vital function?

Maybe "the rest of us lot" can just throw up in our hands, instead.
