Sup peoples, late at night working on crank, first time I've had a bit of time on my hands, now.... I need a good test to check to see if some stuff is working (because not every browser is the same! and I can't be arsed getting a test suite sorted for this)

Go click on the coming soon tab, and answer these questions.

1. You should see after a moment or two a map of new zealand come up.
Y/N ?
2. After another couple of moments a few orange triangles should turn up
Y/N ?
3. So if your orange triangles have turned up, can you click on the one on Taupo?
Y/N ?
4. If (y) to 3, you should get after a little while a map segment with a few crags on it ?
Y/N ?

If you're on a dialup/modem connection it might take a minute or 2 for numbers 1 and 4, I'll be putting progress bars in later, for now it's a little clunky.. sorry !

Okay so if you're kind enough to do the above, could you reply to this thread with either AOK , or if something didn't happen, then the number you got to... and

What Browser you're using ?
What Operating System you're using ?
Do you know if you're behind a firewall ? If so what is it ?

Many thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi
great to see some progress!
runs ok on linux Redhat 9 with mozilla 1.2.1, but the colours are all wierd (this might be because i'm running RH through an X windows (xwin32) program
also goes ok on windows2000 with explorer6.0
tried it on solaris as well but need to install the shockwave plugin for netscape
cant wait to see the super-detail maps

Love my Mac ;)
Yes, yes, yes.

Using Explorer 6.1 under Mac, running on MacOS Z1-9.2.2, behind IP table firewall (no restrictions for outgoing connections)
Needed to install the plug-in first though.

We sure won't get lost on our travels now!

Behind Zone Alarm.

Works. But slow on the second map. (Dial-up)

The old flash7 tricks eh boys. Lucky we're in the age of broadband...I don't think dialup users will like it. Still Mozilla caches nicely. I'm not sure on IE...I tend not to use it - unless forced.

cheers... cheers... expect another group test in a few days when I get the roading network / place name overlay working, more to see what it works like on not-so-grunty computers.

I might drop the map detail down a bit, running roughly 50-60k for the maps, progress bar will help matters no end

I'm on a Mac, using the new Mac browser (Safari), AND I'm on dialup, and everything worked just fine. :D Hope that map is up and running when I get to NZ so I can use it to plan my roadtrip!

Mac OS 10.2.8 , Safari, works fine all round - once I had cleared the cache. On a dial up too.

From Rowan a few days ago..."can you click on them to zoom in (I know you'll click on Paynes first, but I haven't got that segment chopped up yet, so try Christchurch, or Hanging rokc) we've got one mac user saying life is all good.."
So he hasn't done that one yet.

Golden bay is now done.

am on to it.. in order
- chop up rest of the map segments, redo wharepapa
- add roading network / placenames
- add crag news
- higher detailed maps (I've got 1:50m and 1:15m ... what you're seeing is 1:100m)

have seen a few topo style sites, but nothing with the geo referenced jpg's like we've got :)

... theres heaps more coming it's just all a time thing :) must work out how to become a 'professional climber' then I could do this on off days

Looking sweet - good work. Whanganui Bay is Ignimbrite though btw - not Rhyolite...

It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now.
