NZAC Website - Rock Climbing Information
I was very interested to look over the new/updated website for NZAC. Not to be a nit picker but I was a bit shocked to read some of the text for each rock climbing area. and bouldering
"Wanaka: These small crags have been developed in the last five years, and there are now 200 or so routes mostly on schist, using both boltsand natural protection. Principally face climbing."
"Other bouldering areas include Baring Head and Turakirae Head, near Wellington, in the North Island. In the South Island there is quality bouldering at Jardines, near Queenstown, and on the south coast at Curio Bay."
No Wonder Wanaka gets ignored, nobody at NZAC knows anything about Wanaka. Who writes this stuff?
"Queenstown: With more than 500 routes, from single pitch to 200m long multipitch, Queenstown has a lot on offer for climbers of all levels. There you can either climb on slab, face, or even roofs with always a view over the Wakatipu Basin. The main crag being Wye Creek, but there are still a dozen of other worthy smaller crags for sport and traditional climbers."
Better description and now I am wondering who QCC paid off.
Paynes Ford: An overhanging limestone crag near Takaka. Currently very popular, with a large number of difficult, high quality one pitch bolted routes (16 - 29). Probably the best concentration of sport climbing routes in NZ.
Another payoff, Accurate?
Also, may as well take off the info about a bolting fund because there is no bolting fund.
I trust that you have recovered from the shock and already submitted your suggested changes to NZAC?
For a moment there Boulder I thought you were going to compliment NZAC on directing the punters to your guide rather than Rock Deluxe...
I wrote something nice about you to replace the circa 1995 text that was there.
(And left the bolting fund info in situ, to shame the people who decided to get rid of it. Possibly. They know who they are and may be motivated to explain why it is no more...)
Since when?
Exactly.
You have my stamp of approal Boulderdash for what you are doing. Congratulations for your work online here at keeping rockclimbing honest and pure.
He is merely trying to move the centre of the universe to near the 45th parallel
Move? My impression was that those in Wanaka considered the universal centre to be proximate already.

Fair enough - a wee bit outdated and it doesn't really talk up Paynes Ford enough as a destination
