infrequent posting due lagely to people being away on holiday.

have you thought about heading up to the boulder comp at waitomo this saturday ? its maybe a 2hr (?) drive from wanganui. bouldering might not totally be your thing but it'd be a good place to meet other climbers in the north/central north island. see: http://www.nbs.org.nz/

Dan is right, the comps are a great way to hook up with other climbers, even if bouldering isn't your thing, they are very friendly relaxed events, not stressful and over competitive at all.

If you missed Waitomo (and it was great) then you should head south to Welly for round two this Saturday... check the website!

Thanks for the replys guys, I was a bit off track to make it to Waitomo but managed to get three days at Wharepapa and got a bit in inbetween showers. Managed to meet up with a few folk which was nice. Still keen to make a go of the Mangetepopo valley probably stay at the hut there. Can't believe how much Trad potential there is there. The other spot I want to check out is Taranaki. Unfortunately wont be able to make the next bouldering w/end. Tried to check out Baring Head a couple of weeks ago but the bridge is closed to the track and the river was to big to cross down at the beach. How the **** do you get there ?????? !!!!!!!!

ha ha! forget about the bridge. unless you prefer the long mission from eastbourne, getting to the head means crossing that river - unless its pinched off at the mouth if you're real lucky. often easiest to cross the river just before it widens out into the big bowl. this is where the river makes a lazy S bend. the water is faster but shallower here and not too wide usually. take a towel and get to it!

its a bit frickin wet down here in wellywood now eh, that river will be pumping on saturday
