Right, firstly after 12-14 months off the rock I'm just as shit at climbing as I was a year or so ago, to add to this dilemma I've acquired two ingrown toenails on my left foot that hurt like f**k, even in slightly loose climbing shoes, making all left foot placements unnerving and distracting.

So has anyone got any non-invasive (not surgical) idea's on how to alleviate this problem?????????

No smart arse replies or else you'll get enlarged photo's of my hobbit toes e-mailed to you  !!!!!!!

Generally the best advice for making ingrown toenails less painful is to let them grow long and cut them square (i.e. leave the edges long and cut the center short). That said, once you shoehorn yourself into some climbing shoes, these are still likely to hurt.

I think you’re probably out o' luck. Just climb in pain, they'll fall out sooner or later.

having had 2 at the same time i can tell you they are no fun...GET IT SORTED SOON! I left it l8 until they reached a point that they both had to be cut off. Dont cut down at the sides and try soaking them in salty warm water and pushing a small amount of cotton wool under the problem nail. Leave this in as you go about your day and change it at night. This is meant to promote growth away from the trouble spots.
