ther hasn't been much action on the zone lately and I'm beginning to wonder if you have all given up climbing.
Just the wall and a bit of ice down here for me, But I think that being 10 deg colder than you Aucklanders is a good excuse...What's yours

Anyone who knows me will tell you I dont climb anymore.... but really I'm just lulling them into a false sence of security. I'll be back and more powerful than before.

Amen!

Haha :D - ummm Climbing? Umm you mean rocks?

Been a little while, have to admit. Feeling strong enough, just not so organised. Still a few projects to visit before Spring kicks in.

Pig Igneous - Quarry.
Man from Atlantis - Ti Point.
Dr Evil - Frogatt.

And I fancy a bit of the bay soon - as well as trying a new route at Mangotaki (some 27 that needs a second ascent)

Kane? Where are you? - missed your details at Tauranga.

Rich Morgan there is a conflict between those who are enlightened, and concerned with goals that supersede the life-span of a single individual, and those who only grasp the obvious, and focus on superficial, material pursuit

Climbing is happening in chch, its a bit hard to find dry stuff on the port hills at the mo, but made it out to Mount Pleasent after uni yesterday, and of coarse going up to the hill for a bit of fashionable route climbing tomorrow and most weekends

Since coming back from the NI, not exactly, seeing as the right side of my body has gone numb....
But, I still belayed at Mt Pleasant last Sunday, and would be headed to Castle Hill tomorrow if I didn't have an acupuncture appointment.
Once I am better, it is back to the Banks Peninsula for me though!
Winter tends to limit the possibilities a bit, but there is still plenty around.

try sleeping on your left side

theres not much climbing happing in my neck of the woods either, but that is mostly due to my not getting of me arse and hauling into chch find rock that isnt soft enough to grow plants in! did get out to the hill last sunday and was spanked by everthing i laid eyes on... man im weak.

wish i could switch on summer from a slot machine.

Slab climbing in 2 easy steps.
1. lips against rock
2. suck...

you have got it wrong... its all about bouldering, especially at flock... it seems as though every time I'm there we are alone while we pass heaps of cars parked at spittle/quantum, whats uh the deal?

though Im not complaining... I like the quite

(ps im not sure how quite is spelt and im far beyond using google for it let alone a dictionary, I mean lack of noise)

Hi en..
i got mental as anything down to 1 fall on lead. It felt really close but then i got the flu and started iceclimbing.I have the sequence memorised so I should get there quickly again in spring..I hope!
I am heading to Bryces climbing for a weekend at the end of this month( 25th Aug if anyone keen) so that should kick start my spring. This weekend however ...snowboarding...Ive only had 10 runs on my season pass so far!

Oh i must say flock hill is very pleasing, but with the calling of the dodgy bolts, run outs, strange sequences, mind numbinly painfull crimps and scary slabs, how can i not go route climbing at the hill. Oh and there is a route at flock that has me interested.

today at the hill wasnt so good, nice conditions in the morning, but the snow come afternoon put a slight dampner on things, didnt seem to put a dampner on the filming by TVNZ though.

I was doing some alpine stuff in Ecuador, then trying to get fit again at the Red River Gorge in Kentucky until I jacked my ankle. More time off, dammit. Back to the beer, then.

As for the 27 at Mangaotaki, are you talking about the tall, hard, aesthetic one that the first ascentionist subsequently downgraded to 24, or short, bouldery 27 that was a seven year project and downgraded to 23.
Both are actually quite good routes, too, and haven't seen second ascents for good reason.
