Maybe if you weren't so cynical (and desolate?) you would have more fun on a day like christmas. Christmas isn't over-rated the wealth of New Zealander's have a good day, enjoy themselves and enjoy the company of others. It's great.

Make more of an effort and you might have a better time.

hey, I am not big on the whole Xmas thing either, but any excuse to go have a good time with friends, eat lots of food, and get a bit tipsy is a good excuse in my book  *hick*

From experience, I think you may be off the mark. Sure, I had a very enjoyable Xmas, but that's a relatively uncommon/resent affair.

I do believe you're talking out of your arse Jim. Over the last few days leading up to Christmas everybody I talked to was looking forward to christmas. You would walk down the street and it was easy to tell people were having a good time, it's the holidays. Certainly seemed to me that the majority were having a good time.

Well most of the people I spoke to hardly felt like it was Xmas time and did not really care for it. Some folks have the Xmas gene and some don't. I don't need any excuse to go have a good time with friends and eat lots of food.

Oh well that's unfortunate. But it is true that you shouldn't need an excuse to enjoy yourself.

i perspnally think christmas is great. i went to four decent parties in three days (ran out of grog on the 23rd so moved on to a the party next door). new years is quite good but ive never been much of a fan, its just the calendar ticking over. the significance of this event is often lost when those staying up to whitness the tick over are too wasted to notice
