Buying gear

Hi I'm relatively new to New Zealand and just wondering where would be a good place to buy some gear...I'm used to relatively cheap gear from Europe and am a keen bargin hunter. I'm looking to start a rack and my friend is also looking to invest in a pair of rock shoes. She is new to climbing so just wants a beginner pair of shoes that don't break the bank.
Any comments are welcome. Thanks.

Hi I'm relatively new to New Zealand....
Where are you in NZ? Not that it will make much difference in price......just which shops we can recommend in your area.
If you still have friends and/or family in Europe, some things may still be cheaper to buy here and have them ship over...
Although, I could hardly believe my eyes the other day, when I saw a set of BD-wires for 120 Euros in a shop here (northern Germany). At that price, they would still be considerably cheaper in NZ!

If you are buying a lot of gear, consider joining the Alpine Club first, then going to Bivouac, that will give you 15% off all purchases immediately.
Buy gear from over seas and bring it into NZ... that is the cheapest.
Bivouac have some cheap beginners shoes in selected sizes.
