Hi All

I'm interested in some alpine climbing and mountaineering in the Queenstown and Wanaka

areas this January/February. (other areas too)

I haven't spent any time in NZ's mountains so I'm not sure how my experience stacks up.

A lot of rainy slogging on logging roads and coastal bush to get to the alpine is familiar in BC...

I'm going to bring tools/crampons and bivi gear to cover whatever opportunities arise.

It would be nice to have some local beta on the gear list and logistics etc.

The hut system looks very comfortable...

I'd like to meet someone who is interested in doing some classic grade stuff over Jan/Feb

My schedule is wide open and interested in other places as well.

Thanks

Dan

Dan,

California climber here. I land in christchurch Jan.1, and am keen on doing any and all forms of climbing/tramping/mountaineering. I have a three month stay on the south island with no itenerary.  Most of my experience is trad climbing in Yosemite, and easy peaks in the sierra... I am very interested in doing more mountaineering.. (Mt.Aspiring in particular)

Obviously i dont have the local knowledge your looking for, but, if your in need of a parterner i am traveling solo and in the same boat.

I should be checking email regularly while i am there, and not sure how the cell phone will work? Drop me a line and we can sort it out.

Ryan

It might be better to pick up a SIM card here for your phone while you are here rather than face roaming charges...
