Anyone use big BD cams?
I have C4s up to no. 4 and find most of them get used. I've seen a couple of climbs around that would need at least a no. 5 but don't know if I would use it enough to justify the investment or the extra weight.
How often do you use your number 5? What about a 6?
got #5 as a wedding present.perfect for anything ewith the word offwidth in the Description
If that is in the description I certainly don't go there...
I loved my 5 so much, I got a 6 as well! Anything bigger than that is a bit sill I think but I have placed both of them quite a bit. That being said, before you make the investment.... decide whether or not you really want to invest yourself in the dirty passion of off width climbing!
I have a #5, and refuse to go anywhere near offwidths. I don't place it all that often, but it does come in real handy every once in a while.
I have a full set of BD camalots (580 usd from gearexpress.com). I was thinking the number 6 would look cool hanging from my rear-vision mirror!
I've been climbing quite a bit lately in the off-hands/rattly fists almost offwidth range and ive discovered the wonder of big bros! expensive as shit in NZ but cheap as chips (comparativly) up here in Nth america. the red (no 2) covers BD 3 & 4, purple (no 3) covers 4 & 5 ,well mostly... but if i were in the market for a range expanding piece (bigger than the BD 4) and had the coin to drop. i would be looking big bro. most Nth american internet retailers stock them and will quite happily ship to NZ thus eliminating the abhorently expensive NZ distributer...

My biggest cam is a WC 4 - hardly ever use it but there are a few times not in NZ that it would have been useful to have a BD 4. Personally I prefer my rack fat in the smaller to mid size cams
