Hello Everyone!

My name is Cody. I am a 23 yr old American Climber/Photographer currently working as the photo editor at Climbing Magazine and planning a trip down your way. I am looking to come early April and stay until June (a good season i hope). Castle Hill is my main focus but I am excited to climb many other places as well. I am in need of partners and a room to rent somewhere near Christchurch. I enjoy music, climbing, art and conversation. Please drop me a line if you can help or no someone that may have a room for rent.

Namasté,

Cody

Namaste Cody,

Have you tried Whareora Terrace in Dyer's Pass? Let's see, who's living there at the moment? I think Dave Haylock... I'll pass your details on to 'im.

Peace,
Ryan

Hmm, definitely check out Mount Somers and especially the Darrans ASAP. The season's short, but they're extraordinarily photogenic spots. See the new book out by Sedon, Classic Rock Climbs of New Zealand, or something to that effect. Coffee table book.

We all (incl Dave) moved out of Whareora over the last few months, for various reasons. The place is even more of a dive now (especially now that Derek's taken the woodie) but Dave says there are people living there again. No idea who. It was truly a shame for everyone to leave - it's the end of an era.

But Cody you won't have any trouble finding people to stay with now that you've posted here. Nice season for the hill too. Also I agree with Ryan's comments.

Damn. That's a real shame, Rob. :( At least the Terrace lives on, commemorated by the new route at the Hill. Cheers bro

yeh will all moved out, or else no dout there would have been a room. Make sure you take a rope up to the hill (and some tights for some old school styles). The darrens is deffinetly a go'er at that time of year, weather systems moving through a bit slower, so if you you pick a good high then you can get a week of good(ish) weather. Also photographing in the darrens is amazing. We down in christchurch will keep an eye out for you. and im sure there will be a piece of floor somewhere. Tent in my backyard if your desperate

G'day Cody,

we're some local climbers living in a nice big house in lovely Lyttelton (that's the port of Christchurch) and we are currently looking for a like-minded flatmate.

There is either the sleep-out OR a single, biggish room - you can choose which one you prefer.

Rent is NZ$78/wk plus exp and it's available from March 24th.

It's a nice community over here in lYttelton, lots of climbers live here (so it's easy to hook up and arrange rides to Castle Hill) and it's only 15mins into town through the tunnel.

Let us know if you're interested. We can certainly sort something out.

cheers,
dagmar, monika, matt and ricardo

Hey dagmar, monika, matt and ricardo --

Thanks for your reply. I am still looking at all my options at this point but your offer sounds perfect! I will be arriving in Christchurch on April 7th and staying only one month until May 7th. would it be possible to rent the room for just three weeks or so? I would like to dirt bag near Castle Hill for a week or two if the weather permits.

Thanks for all the info!

Peace,
Cody
