The Vosstinator
Ivan reports that he has finally sent Rodney's old project at the Cave. He has named it Rise of the Valkyries and graded it 32. Ivan now joins the ranks of the five other NZers who have climbed this grade. This holds NZ climbing in good stead with all these climbers still actively climbing.
Ivan has tried the project many times and gotten very close on numerous occaisions. The key ingredient was his partner returning from Arapiles for the belay. This does mean that the ascent was tainted with 'girlpower' possibly meaning that Ivan's inclusion in NZs climbing avant garde should have an asterisk. The route has a very tough dyno early on and then links with Bogus Machismo for an endurance finish.
