The Ghost Climber

Rumours and conjecture quickly circulated through the climbing community (of göteborg) when consistent hard sendage was recorded
on an 8a scorecard. The local mastermind behind the 8a website even went as far as accusing some locals of having a little joke by making up the Scott Mooney phenom to sabotage the accuracy of his website. When they pleaded ignorance the hunt truly began with no newcomer to the area safe from scrutiny, be they the ghost.

In true Hollywood style d-day had to come as the ghost approached the normally empty car park only to discover a host of climber wagons in wait. Trying to maintain an indifferent emeanour to inquisitive looks the ghost quickly warmed up on some easy classic climbs to begin the day.

As an obvious outsider with minimal Swedish skill's no sooner had the ghost lowered to the ground then the 8a crew began their interrogation in an attempt to discover his true origins. They didn't buy the "Bond, James Bond" tactic and too hung over to think of anything else the ghost was eventually coerced into divulging his true identity before being subjected to intensive questioning about routes recently posted as done on 8a.

With no other way of substantiating his prowess than having to climb something in front of an increasingly interested group the ghost turned to the job at hand. What better climb to tackle than the target for the day, a 7C+ whose first ascent was made by none other than the 8a crew some weeks beforehand.

In consummate Mooney style he shrugged of the hangover and cast off into the vertical plain. Working quickly through the moves the ghost was warmly welcomed to the realm of the living when, after a short rest, he tied back in and sent another 7C+ second go.

With the day's business out of the way the 8a crew grew eminently hospitable and a trip to the pub to work on tomorrow's hangover was the next logical step.
