The Bay Road
Was up at the Bay over the weekend, and had a mighty fine time - sun, lack of people, good friends, good climbing.
But.....
The road is in a sorry state of repair. Access by anything other than a 4WD has been marginal for a while, and as the road dries out it is getting harder and harder to get in and out.
So, PLEASE think carefully before you head down the road - do NOT drive down if you only have a 2WD car (unless it's a decent rear wheel drive, eg; Holden). The damage caused to the road getting four vehicles out on Sunday was significant, and had the bay residents quite pissed off.
Hopefully we can keep an update on the state of the road going (thanks Mojo). It isn't worth compromising access to the North Islands best all round climbing area, just for the sake of a short walk.
The climbing at the bay rocks - enjoy it - but treat access as a privilege, and take care of it!
