Press Release from NZSF - 2003 Junior National Championships

The National Championships is a one off event and is one of twenty competitions that the New Zealand Sportclimbing Federation organises throughout the year.
“It will be excellent to see some of the Junior climbers competitors competing in the open-level competition next weekend, 11th October 2003. The event at the new Vertical Assault climbing wall in Turangi could possibly see some future stars emerge in the NZ competition climbing scene.” Maguire says.
Around 40 competitors are expected to be competing in the Open National Championships in Turangi.
Climbers will be scaling 15 metre high walls from 10 am until 4 pm, in a series of qualifying and finals rounds. Sportclimbing is a form of rock-climbing on artificial climbing walls with athletes being caught by safety ropes when they fall.
